This restaurant has truly tasty, authentic food. The service was exceptional with a welcoming host and attention to detail. The atmosphere was warm and cozy. We ordered green chilaquiles and entomatadas and thoroughly enjoyed both dishes. We also ordered an orange juice and you can tell by taste and texture that it’d been freshly squeezed. Before leaving we smelled the sweet scent of freshly baked empanadas de lechecilla and we enjoyed one so much we came back an hour later and ordered three more to go. Please stop by on your visit to LA! It’s right off the Santee Alley shopping area so a perfect pitstop before, in between, or after. You won’t regret it!

I ordered the chilaquiles with green sauce and steak through Grubhub, so this review is strictly based on the food itself rather than the dine-in experience. From the moment I opened the container, the dish looked excellent. Everything was neatly assembled and visually inviting, which already set a good expectation before the first bite. The green sauce was the star for me. It had the perfect balance of savoriness, coating the chips just enough to soften them without turning everything mushy. The steak was a highlight. It was marinated beautifully and immediately reminded me of my dad grilling carne asada when I was growing up. That familiar, well-seasoned flavor brought a real sense of nostalgia. The steak was cooked well, it was tender and delicious to go along with the everything else in the dish. I also really appreciated the structure of the dish. The chips, eggs, and steak sat on a bed of refried beans, which made everything taste better together and added a creamy, comforting base. I took a risk with the chilaquiles since so many places do it differently, but this restaurant made them so good that I will definitely be coming back Everything tasted great from start to finish. If you're ordering from El Sazon De Alferez, the chilaquiles are absolutely worth getting.

El Sazón de Alférez — A Delicious Oaxacan Surprise! My daughter and I were just passing by, looking for something to eat, and decided to try El Sazón de Alférez. I’ve always loved Oaxacan food, so I walked in with high hopes — and this restaurant did not disappoint! I ordered the costillitas en salsa verde for lunch, and they were tender, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with that bright green sauce. I also enjoyed the molotes as an appetizer — they came out piping hot with the perfect crunch. The flavors were spot on, but what truly won me over was the black bean sauce on top, which had that distinct herbal touch that makes Oaxacan cuisine so special. The owner was incredibly welcoming and gracious. He even offered me an empanada de leche to try — and it was the perfect hint of sweetness to end a rich late lunch. Soft, creamy, and absolutely delightful. Such a wonderful find! We’ll definitely be coming back to explore more of their menu.

Great new Oaxacan restaurant. Very clean. The breakfast sandwich was so yummy and I loved the side Caesar salad. Perfect amount of dressing and had sunflower seeds and the best croutons. Workers are sweet
